Hello dear internet viewer,
No, you're not dreaming, this is indeed an article! What is it an intergalactic return, not really, today, I'll talk about a very rare game that I found while buying on Kijiji. A game that nobody of you know, but that is very good compared to what it represents. It is a petanque game named Pétanque 3D developed by Absys Interactive, but distributed by Anuman Interactive 2001.
As you can see in the video below, I'm not a pro at petanque, but I still know the basics. Since when I was a kid and I went to a friend's camping, we sometimes played it. So the aim of the game, it is to throw the ball closest to the jack. Looks like the curling, you'll say, Unlike curling here, the ball must hit an obstacle to be eligible for a point unless no ball was hit round, there, only the closest ball is worth one point. To have more than one point, eligible balls has to be the closest. So even if between your two balls, there is an ineligible ball, this means that you will only have a single point, since your balls are not the closest. It seems complicated explained like that, but in reality, petanque is a very simple and very relaxing sport.
Technical level, for 2001, on the part of a developer of made in France, the game is very good. 3D graphics, simple approach control and professional presentation. However, the game suffers from the absence of music, which is a little sad, but not mortal either since the petanque, it is a concentration game and when we talk about of concentration, there must be an absolute silence. By example in a real tournament, if someone in the audience speaks during a game, he gonna be systematically expel. That being said, the sound effects and voices are included, nothing to go kill a deer, but not less useful to the atmosphere.
All in all, a very interesting game I would recommend to anyone, however, you may have a lot of trouble finding this game, given to the fact that only very few copies of it exist in the world. But for those who read me with an interest in the history of video games, just watch the video below!
